Nailed on.
With no Johnny Sexton for the first time in what feels like forever, a lot of questions were asked of Ireland ahead of the Six Nations.
Sexton had been a key figure for Ireland in the 10 shirt throughout the bulk of their success and replacing him was never going to be an easy task.
Enter Jack Crowley.
The Munster playmaker has made the 10 jersey his own in the opening three rounds of the championship with some stunning play, and the man who stepped aside for Johnny Sexton to come through reckons there’s now no question as to who is Ireland’s long-term fly-half is.
Speaking on Off The Ball, Ronan O’Gara reckons Crowley has nailed down his spot in the team already,
“Within three games the debate over who plays 10 for Ireland is over, it’s shut, it’s dead,” O’Gara said.
“You talk about someone opening the door – he has kicked the door down! And he has made the position his own because as a coach you just want acts.
“You don’t want people talking a good game, you want someone taking ownership of the team and he has done that.
“He’s brought stability when it’s needed, he’s brought an x-factor when it’s needed, he’s brought a range of varieties to his game – in his third game of the Six Nations, his first proper campaign.
“This guy is on the way up, big time.”
No wonder ROG tried to sign him for La Rochelle a couple of seasons ago!
