Still got it.
Rob Kearney has been the subject of a lot of criticism over the last few seasons, sometimes fairly, sometimes unfairly. But what we have learned is when he’s under pressure to deliver, he makes damn sure of it.
A lot of people didn’t want him on the field against the All Blacks in Chicago last November, and he produced one of his finest games in an Ireland jersey. This past weekend a lot of people were upset that Andrew Conway wasn’t starting against Argentina. But once again Rob Kearney was almost untouchable.
While he’s been hugely unfortunate with injuries and he’s been lacking in consistency in recent seasons, there’s absolutely no question he’s still got the ability to put in a world class performance, and his stats from the Pumas game prove it.
Rob Kearney vs Argentina.
Runs: 11
Metres made: 105
Clean breaks: 2
Defenders beaten: 6
Tackles made: 8
Rob Kearney is going to hold onto that fullback jersey for another while yet. Get used to it.
