Rob Kearney makes hilarious admission that’s sure to put him in the bad books

Bad books.

Former Ireland and Leinster fullback Rob Kearney has made a hilarious admission that’s sure to put him in the bad books with his wife, Jess.

Kearney had a hugely successful career for both club and country, winning numerous trophies, including multiple Champions Cups, as well as a Six Nations Grand Slam.

He was also part of the Irish team that famously beat the All Blacks for the first time and toured with the British and Irish Lions, and as a result, he says his wedding day “doesn’t even register” when it comes to listing the best 10 days of his life.

“I’m sure she won’t mind me saying this but discussing our wedding day with Jess, she thinks this was the best day of her life, nothing would come close to her wedding day,” Kearney told RTÉ’s Insights with Sean O’Rourke podcast.

“In my own head I’m thinking, ‘Jaysus, this doesn’t come into the top ten days of my life.’”

He did, however, add that the birth of his son Bobby is right up there.

“I’ve had Heineken Cups, Grand Slams, beaten the All Blacks,” he added.

“Our wedding day doesn’t even register, and I thought nothing would ever come close to some of these big victories but the birth of your first child has made all of those sporting days so insignificant.”
