Heated.
Ireland’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final defeat to New Zealand on Saturday will live long in memory for the men in green.
The All Blacks showed that they’re still capable of beating anyone in the world and will fancy their chances at reaching yet another final when they face Argentina in the semi-finals.
Saturday marked the end of an era for Irish Rugby, with Johnny Sexton among those who will never wear an Irish jersey again as Andy Farrell and his coaching ticket go back to the drawing board in search of an elusive semi-final.
The Ireland captain was understandably emotional at the final whistle and details have now emerged about an incident between him and Rieko Ioane that was picked up by the cameras.
The pair were seen having a heated argument after Ioane reportedly raised a finger to his lips in the direction of the Irish supporters.
And now a screenshot is doing the rounds with All Blacks captain Sam Cane allegedly revealing that Ioane told Sexton to “enjoy retirement and not miss the flight home tomorrow” which seems to explain what incited the Irish man even more.
Tempers were also going to boil over in what was one of the great Rugby World Cup quarter final meetings.
Johnny Sexton won’t be there, but there will be plenty more to come from Ireland and the All Blacks in the not too distant future.
