Dan Carter will officially be a Racing 92 player on December 1 and Racing President Jacky Lorenzetti couldn’t be happier.
The New Zealand out-half will be the world’s highest paid player, on €1m-a-season. Carter was presented to the French media on Friday and, while they were there, reporters sought out Racing’s multi-millionaire owner, Lorenzetti.
He could not resist a dig at big-spending European Champions Toulon and Mourad Boudjellal, their president. According to Midi Olympique, Lorenzetti declared:
“Mourad wanted the brioche but ended up getting the crumbs.”
Boudejellal may well respond, and we’re sure he will.
Perhaps he will point out the club’s three European Cups and one Top 14 title in the last three years. Racing have not won anything since a French championship win in 1990.
