Wow.
Australia and Waratahs fullback Israel Folau had made a lot of headlines recently for all the wrong reasons.
The talented former rugby league star has pissed off a lot of people with his latest homophobic comment. Despite a meeting with the Australia Rugby Union (ARU), he refuses to back down on his views, and now his future is up in the air.
He has offered to walk away from his ARU contract as a result, and now it appears Sale Sharks are looking to pounce on his situation and offer him a massive contract to move to the Aviva Premiership.
The Rugby Paper are reporting Folau has been offered a deal in excess of £750k-a-season by Sale, with the northern side putting a firm offer on the table for his services. This would be considerably more than his current deal in Australia.
The report also suggests he may no longer be in Australia’s plans going forward because of his stance, making a move even more likely. Watch this space.
