Fresh from defeating Australia in the World Cup final, New Zealand pair Beauden Barrett and Nehe Milner-Skudder gave the thumbs up to a Cork school’s team ahead of the coming season.
The pair were part of the victorious All Blacks side that claimed back-to-back World Cup successes at Twickenham as Steve Hansen’s side defeated their neighbours 34-17 in an absorbing final.
Later that night, images quickly circulated of Milner-Skudder and Barrett holding a banner wishing luck to the senior rugby team at Cork secondary school Bandon Grammar in next year’s Munster Senior Cup.
The picture was taken by the father of student Conor Scully, a member of the squad, who attended the World Cup Final at Twickenham. He met Barrett afterwards and the New Zealander happily obliged along with Milner-Skudder. Both players were on the scoresheet in the defeat of the Wallabies.
