The tributes just keep on coming in.
Since we first heard the tragic news of Anthony Foley’s passing, the rugby world has been inundated with beautiful messages and wonderful tributes to the number eight, such was the mark he left on the game.
Foley was Munster through and through. He epitomised what it was to be part of the famous southern province. He lived and breathed the Munster ethos of pride, respect and hard-work.
In 2006, many years of hard work from the likes of Anthony Foley were rewarded as Munster finally lifted the holy grail and were crowned champions of Europe on a magical day in Cardiff.
Ask any Munster fan and they will tell you, simply thinking back about that day, still gives them goosebumps. That iconic footage of Foley hoisting the trophy for the very first time will live long in the memory.
The Irish Examiner have encapsualted that moment perfectly with their wonderful tribute this morning, as we see Foley clinging on to what means most to him. The captain and his reward.
