Is there no end to Sonny Bill Williams’ kindness?
The All Blacks star made headlines all over the world when he gave his Rugby World Cup winners medal to a young fan at last year’s tournament and now the centre has gone and done it again.
Williams is currently taking a break from the 15-a-side game in a bid to win an Olympic gold medal at this summer’s games with the national sevens side. The New Zealand sevens team were unfortunately dealt a blow this weekend as they were overturned by Fiji in the final of the Hong Kong Sevens.
One young fan seemed to take the defeat quite bad and Williams stepped in to present the fan with his runners-up cup.
Tan Guerin-Rodda, mother of eight-year-old Cooper, wrote on Facebook: “NZ lost to Fiji in HK 7’s and after they collected their own runner up cups, the team walked past us and I called out to Sonny to have a selfie with us. Not only did he take the selfie, he gave Coops his runner up cup!!!! What a bloody legend!!!”
The youngster also recorded a video in which he thanks Williams for the “awesome gift”.
