It’s not the end of the world.
Simon Zebo was one of the many unlucky players to miss out on selection yesterday as Warren Gatland named his British & Irish Lions squad.
The Munster and Ireland star has been in excellent form this season, and it was thought that his versatility and ability to bring that added ‘x-factor’ would be enough to book him a spot on the plane to New Zealand.
It wasn’t however to be the case, but you can be sure Zebo is one of the first names on the reserve list should any injuries occur. Zebo was a late call-up in 2013, impressing in the midweek games, so it’s clear Gatland rates the Irishman.
Not being selected isn’t the end of the world for Zebo, with his focus clearly on Munster’s Champions Cup semi-final this weekend. He’s also lucky enough to have two beautiful, healthy children at home. Don’t worry be happy.
