Money talks.
Racing 92 are one of the richest and most powerful rugby clubs in the world. Backed by billionaire Jacky Lorenzetti, the French giants have spent big in the last few years in a bid to become Europe’s finest.
The likes of Dan Carter, Ali Williams, Joe Rokocoko, Casey Laulala, Finn Russell, Simon Zebo, Donnacha Ryan, Juan Martin Hernandez, Johnny Sexton, Chris Masoe, Pat Lambie, Mike Phillips, Dan Lydiate, Jamie Roberts and Leone Nakarawa are all either past or current players. And those lads don’t come cheap.
So Racing have decided to combat that this year with a rather bizarre new kit that is a sign of the times – at least in France. They’ve filled their kit with so many sponsors, they’ve been forced to relegate their club crest to the bottom of their kit.
It’s pretty shameful if you ask us, but when go through players like Racing do, it’s to be expected. Hopefully other clubs won’t follow suit as wouldn’t be the best of trends. One things for sure – there certainly won’t be any badge kissing done at Racing next season.
