Nigel Owens is the gift that just keeps on giving.
The former World Rugby Referee of the Year is widely regarded as one of the best officials we’ve ever had the pleasure of gracing our beautiful game. He’s taken charge of some of rugby\s biggest games, and he rarely lets us down.
What makes the Welshman so special, is his ability to deal with the game in a sensible manner and his absolute no-nonsense attitude. When you’re on a pitch and Owens is in charge, you respect him as the official, or you’ll be in trouble.
Owens was refereeing Clermont’s win over Bordeaux in the Champions Cup this weekend, and gave us another classic moment he’s become synonymous for.
In the brilliant picture below, Owens, down on one knee, offers his whistle to one of the Clermont players, suggesting does he want to referee the game instead of him. The Clermont forward politely declined. Brilliant from Owens.
