Finally some sense.
Munster duo Peter O’Mahony and CJ Stander have both been offered vastly improved deals by the IRFU according to a report by Pat McCarry of SportsJoe.
The pair turned down initial contract offers, sparking speculation that they could both leave Irish shores for massive paydays in either France or England.
The IRFU’s initial offer to O’Mahony was believed to be in the region of €400,000, with the report suggesting the new offer is somewhere in the region of €500,000 plus the assurance of an additional sponsorship deal, acquired with the IRFU’s assistance.
The current sticking point is believed to be the length of the deal, with O’Mahony wanting a three-year deal, while the IRFU are currently offering just a two-year one.
As for Stander, he was initially reportedly offered an insulting €20k rise on his current €260k contract. But the new offer is said to be in the region of €400,000.
Hopefully both players will be happy with these latest offers and we can put all this behind us.
