Paul O’Connell could be back at Munster sooner rather than later.
The former captain is being heavily linked with Munster’s newfound Director of rugby role. Sources close to the club state that a Director of Rugby will be appointed this week and O’Connell’s name is said to be in the mix.
Head coach Anthony Foley was asked if O’Connell could be a runner for the new Director of Rugby role, and he did not rule out the possibility.
“That is something you would need to talk to Paul about. It is not something I would talk about.”
Foley is not sure if he will have any input into the appointment either or how quickly the appointment of the new director will be made.
“I don’t know to be honest. I haven’t asked if I’ll have an input, I am more concentrating on the here and now. And making sure that we get results on the weekend. It’s something that I talk to the CEO about every now and then but it’s not a regular occurrence.
“”You would like to it happen quickly, but if it means not getting the right person you take your time.”
