Not for sale.
Northampton Saints boss Jim Mallinder has insisted that Louis Picamoles will not be leaving the club this summer. Picamoles has been one of Northampton’s standout players in a disappointing season, having signed in the summer on a massive contract.
He has two years remaining on that deal, with reports in France suggest Montpellier and France will try to lure him home this summer on the first ever FFR central contract. Buying Picamoles out of his deal, with Pierre Spies offered as a makeweight has been suggested.
Mallinder however was clear that Picamoles’ contract had no get-out clause, meaning he would not be leaving the club.
“Louis Picamoles is like all players who are not leaving,” Mallinder told the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.
“He signed a contract, a three-year contract, he’s just done the first year of it and he’s got no get-out clause. There’s no reason why Louis should be anywhere else.
“I don’t think we’ve ever been a selling club.
“We’ve always wanted to go into the market and bring good players here to Northampton. I’m sure that’s the way we’ll be. We want to keep all of our good players at Northampton Saints.”
Somehow we reckon this isn’t the last we’ll hear of this.
