Wanted man.
Munster Rugby have gotten off to an excellent start to the season with two wins from two so far, but injuries continue to mount, and their depth will be put to the test in the coming weeks.
Front-row has long been an area of concern for the province, who brought in prop Dian Bleuler on a short-term deal last year from the Sharks, and also fast-tracked hooker Lee Barron and loosehead Michael Milne’s deals to join from Leinster.
They lost both Dave Kilcoyne and Stephen Archer over the summer, with both sides of the scrum still a concern on the depth chart, but the province appears to be in the market for a world-class operator at hooker.
According to Rapport, Munster have joined the race for Springbok hooker Marnus van der Merwe, whose contract with the Scarlets expires next summer.
The 28-year-old has been a revelation for Scarlets and was named in the URC Elite XV last season, with the Sharks and Clermont also said to be chasing his signature.
