Munster issue update on Craig Casey following worrying injury

Munster Rugby has issued an update on Craig Casey following a worrying injury in training that has fans concerned.

Casey captained Munster for the first time in their URC opener against Scarlets, starring as the southern province secured a crucial bonus-point win on the road.

But a leg injury sustained in training last Tuesday meant he missed the win over Cardiff in Thomond Park on Saturday.

He’s also likely set to miss out on Munster’s next game against Edinburgh on Friday night, but coach Mike Prendergast is hoping the Ireland scrumhalf won’t be out much longer.

“It hasn’t been fully diagnosed yet,” Prendergast told RTÉ Sport.

“There is a hamstring injury there. He’s still doing a couple of tests on it.

“We’re hoping it won’t be too long, hopefully in the next week or two.

“There’ll probably be a bit more clarity towards the end of the week, around Thursday or so.

“We’re hoping and we’ll wait and see to get a bit of good news there.

“As of now, nothing is clear or set in stone in terms of availability, so we’ll know more towards the end of the week.”
