Munster fans look set to outnumber Racing 92 fans by almost 3/1 on Sunday for their crucial Champions Cup semi-final clash in Bordeaux.
The game may be taking place in France but the venue, the Stade Chaban-Delmas, is almost 550km from Paris. And due to strikes in rail company SNCF and Air France, getting there has become increasingly difficult for Racing fans.
As a result, Racing maintain they will only have around 2000 fans making the trip, with the club encouraging fans to carpool the journey which takes almost six hours. Aer Lingus meanwhile. have put on extra flights for Munster, with in excess of 5000 set to make the trip to Bordeaux, although many believe that number will be even higher.
This means theoretically, it will be quicker and easier for Munster fans to make the trip. Ticket prices have been halved for Racing fans in certain areas, in an attempt to fill the stadium which has a capacity of over 30,000.
How big a role will the crowd play this weekend? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
