Reinforcements
Munster Rugby look to have solved their depth issues at tighthead prop with a deal imminent for a Top 14 star with plenty of experience.
According to Murray Kinsella in The 42, the southern province are close to signing former Leinster tighthead Michael Alaalatoa on a deal until the end of the season, in a welcome boost to their front-row stocks.
Munster currently only have 37-year-old John Ryan at full fitness, with no timeline currently for the returns of Oli Jager and Roman Salanoa.
As a result, the report adds that the IRFU have granted Munster a dispensation to bring in an NIQ prop to deal with their injury crisis imminently.
The Samoan international, who currently plays his rugby in the Top 14 with Clermont, will no doubt be a welcome addition to Clayton McMillan’s side as they look to continue their excellent unbeaten start to the season.
