Northampton Saints number eight Louis Picamoles is reportedly set to return to France on a central contract with the FFR to join Montpellier.
The powerful back-row forward has enjoyed an outstanding first season in the Premiership, culminating with his name making the shortlist for the RPA Player of the Season award, as well as being a star performer for the national side in the Six Nations.
Picamoles has two years left on his contract with Northampton but Montpellier owner Mohad Altrad is apparently working on a deal to bring him back to France. Picamoles’ possible move would mark a return to his roots, having left Montpellier back in 2009 to join Toulouse.
Midi Olympique have said that Picamoles misses his family & friends in the Montpellier region & also wants to be more involved with the France elite squad. In order to soften the blow Montpellier are reportedly set to offer Springbok Piers Spies as part of a deal for Picamoles. If Northampton are not interested, Montpellier will apparently have to buy Picamoles out of his mega contract.
Midi speculates about the future of Pierre Spies if Picamoles returns to Montpellier & suggests he could be "exchanged" for the Frenchman
