Fuming.
Leinster are reportedly fuming after it was confirmed that Joey Carbery would be leaving the eastern province over the summer to join provincial rivals Munster on a two-year deal.
The Irish Independent are reporting that Leinster’s hierarchy are not happy with how the whole situation played out, particularly the IRFU’s influence over the player on his decision.
The report also highlights that Leinster didn’t release a statement on Carbery’s move. Munster released a short, somewhat hurried statement on their website, while Leinster merely posted a brief one-liner on social media.
Normally, the club issue a statement on a player’s departure, acknowledging their contribution as they did with Jordi Murphy when he moved to Ulster.
Usually when a player moves club, especially a high-profile case such as this one, a press release will be sent out by the Munster, Leinster, the PRO14 and sometimes the IRFU too.
No release was sent out yesterday to confirm Carbery’s move. Strange.
