Leinster head coach has paid tribute to Anthony Foley today during a press conference.
Cullen is preparing his team for their round 2 Champions Cup clash with Montpellier and has admitted it’s been a strange week for him as he comes to terms with the passing of the late flanker.
“It has been a really strange week for me.” Cullen said.
“Axel was somebody I have been aware of since I was 14 years old, he was number eight of the Irish schools tour that went to New Zealand in 1992, so I would have been aware of him at that stage.”
“We played as team-mates with Ireland and shared rooms together so it was a really tough time to see what has happened.”
“Our thoughts are with his family at the moment along with the Munster players and staff, we can’t even begin to imagine what they are going through at the moment.”
Munster take on Glasgow Warriors in their Champions Cup game tomorrow and have have stood down the number 8 jersey in honour of the late Anthony Foley.
CJ Stander will now wear the number 24 jersey as his beloved club says goodbye in the historic match.
