Double signing.
Leicester Tigers have been busy behind the scenes over the last few months as they look to restore their place among Europe’s elite clubs following a disappointing couple of seasons.
England coach Steve Borthwick is set to link up with the Premiership outfit ahead of next season in a huge coup for the club with Nemani Nadolo, Cyle Brink and Matt Scott set to add to their playing roster.
And this week they were linked with an audacious move for England and Saracens lock Maro Itoje but that has since been denied by head coach Geordan Murphy.
“That (Itoje rumour) is not true,” Murphy said.
“Like everything this season, we have been attached to quite a few rumours. Maro Itoje is a fantastic player but is not in our plans at present.
“We actually are in the process of finalising someone in that position and we will release that when we are ready, hopefully early next week.”
However, according to RugbyPass, Tigers look set to sign another England second-row in the shape of Saracens’ Nick Isiekwe, who’s set to sign on a loan deal ahead of next season.
The highly-rated 22-year-old has been capped three times by England and while he’s no Maro Itoje, he would be an excellent signing for the Welford Road-based outfit.
And in a further coup, RugbyPass are also reporting that Tigers are close to completing a deal for Saracens winger Alex Lewington, who previously spent four seasons at Welford Road from 2009 to 2013 before heading to London Irish and then Saracens.
