Breakfast club.
A video of Ronan O’Gara and Johnny Sexton deep-faked into a clip from the 1985 movie ‘The Breakfast Club’ has appeared online thanks to comedy creator Steven Connolly and we’re not quite sure what to make of it.
Connolly drew inspiration from Sexton and O’Gara’s unlikely relationship, having disliked each other immensely when the former first burst onto the scene before becoming the best of friends following their stint in Paris together.
The clip sees O’Gara deep-faked into Emilio Estevez’s character and Sexton’s face replaced with Ally Sheedy’s.
Here’s Connolly’s description of the video:
“I’ve watched this movie about 10 times and recently I was struck by all the unlikely relationships formed.
“It reminded me of maybe the most unlikely of friendships in Rugby – ROG and Sexton. Two absolute legends of Irish rugby who gave it there all and seemed to hate each other when playing against and even with each other but they found common ground in Paris. Now they’re buddies.
“So this short deep-fake film is a dedication to ROG and Johnny and to Friendship.
“The above is total nonsense, of course, I was watching the breakfast club and Emilio’s hair is exactly like ROG’s back in the day so this was originally just about him but then I noticed Ally Sheedy’s face shape and colour is like Johnny’s so just stuck him in.”
