The sooner the better.
Johnny Sexton says the sooner Joey Carbery’s future is sorted the better for everyone involved. Carbery has been linked with a move to Ulster and Munster in recent weeks, with the IRFU reportedly keen for him to leave Leinster in search of more game time at ten.
Sexton reckons wherever Carbery ends up he will be a huge asset, but feels for him over all the speculation about his future he’s had to deal with in recent weeks.
Speaking after yesterday’s PRO14 final win, Sexton says he hopes Carbery will stay with Leinster, but it’s in his and everyone else’s best interests that he makes an announcement on his future as soon as possible.
“He’s surrounded by good people with his dad and the management team here, they’ve looked after him,” Sexton said
“He has been able to call on some experienced guys as well to look for some advice but I have felt for him with all the speculation.
“From his point of view and from everyone’s point of view, I’m sure, the sooner a decision is made the better for everyone involved.
“He’s a team-mate and a friend, first and foremost. Whoever he ends up with, I hope it’s here, but whoever he ends up with, he will be a great asset for.
“He’s so talented and versatile and he’s got a little bit of everything. You saw the footwork he did for the try and that’s what he’s capable of. Wherever he ends up, he’s going to be a massive asset.”
What do you think Carbery should do? Should he stay or move to Munster or Ulster?
