Johann Van Graan Explains The Secrecy Behind Murray’s Injury

Privacy.

Munster head coach Johann van Graan has revealed the province have released as little information about Conor Murray’s injury at the direct request of the player himself.

The southern province have revealed that Murray has a neck issue – but have given no timeline for his recovery, nor have they disclosed any other details regarding the Ireland international.

“I can’t comment on Conor,” Van Graan told RTÉ Sport’s Damien O’Meara

“Upon his request, I can’t comment on his injury. He’s requested that his information remains confidential. I can’t really comment on that.

“I’ve got to respect that. From the first day we’ve handled his injury accordingly. We take care of all of our players very well I believe.”

Murray’s decision to keep his medical information private follows on from the recently retired Jamie Heaslip doing the same regarding his back injury last season – and it should come as no surprise.

Players are now more aware than ever about their right to privacy, and Murray has done nothing wrong. It’s not the first time information will be kept under wraps regarding injuries as we said, and we don’t expect it do be the last.
