Matt Healy proved once again on Saturday that he should be on a plane to South Africa this summer.
The Connacht man has been in blistering form this season but didn’t do enough for Joe Schmidt to select him in his Irish squad for this summer’s tour of South Africa.
Healy was instrumental in Connacht’s demolition of Leinster the weekend as they lifted the Guinness PRO12 for the first time in their history. The question remains however, is Schmidt having second thoughts?
Speaking at the launch of the new Ireland jersey today, Schmidt had this to say:
“Matt would certainly be one of the guys [we are considering],” Schmidt said. “One of the advantages with him is he’s a left-footed left winger – like for like with Luke Fitzgerald and he’d be certainly a guy who’s in contention.
“Some of those decisions might have been able to be made this morning but we haven’t had the opportunity to get together. We’ll make decisions this evening and we’ll have someone else in camp tomorrow and it could well be Matt.”
Just hurry up and call him up already.
