Italian international prop Sami Panico has been arrested on suspicion of drugs possession for the purposes of trafficking.

The 25-year-old has 10 caps for the Azzuri and currently plies his trade with PRO14 side Zebre. According to Italian news agency Ansa, Panico had 1.5kg of marijuana and 330g of hashish seized from his home.

€10,000 in cash that was stashed in his garden was also seized from his home. According to the police, this sum of money discovered “comes from illegal activities”.

The front-row is now under house arrest as an investigation continues, with a court appearance slated for Monday.
