The best of the best.
Keith Earls capped off an incredible season last night when he was named Zurich Players’ Player of the Year at the Rugby Players Ireland awards in Dublin.
The Munster and Ireland winger has been incredible this season, playing a huge role in Ireland’s Grand Slam win and in Munster’s road to the Champions Cup and PRO14 semi-finals.
The award comes on top of Munster naming him their player of the year, with pretty much the whole of Ireland agreeing Earls has been deserving of every accolade that has come his way this season.
But Earls isn’t one for individual accolades, and instead chose to praise the three other nominees for the award instead. In his eyes – Tadhg Furlong, Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton are the three best players in the world in their respective positions.
“In my eyes, Conor, Johnny and Tadhg are probably the three best players, genuinely, in the world in their position.” Earls said at last night’s ceremony
After finally winning a medal with Ireland (he missed the other Six Nations wins through injury) and winning Munster and Player’s Player of the Year for the first time – Earls will be hoping his side can get past Leinster this weekend, and add to a brilliant campaign with some much needed silverware with Munster.
