Four countries have expressed a firm interest in hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup
Those four are Ireland, Italy, South Africa and Argentina. South Africa were the early favourites until their Minister for Sport and Recreation, withdrew their bidding privileges.
The president of Argentina Mauricio Macri has now come out and stated that they will now only be focusing on a 2027 bid. The union will make their 2027 bid official in October when tournament organisers pay an early, exploratory visit.
Italy and Ireland have both made an official bid while France have expressed a strong interest without publicising the matter. The official deadline application is September of this year.
Ireland and Italy are now the two frontrunners for the tournament with many speculating that Ireland are clear favourites if they battle comes down to the two.
An official World Rugby decision on the 2023 host is not expected until next July with the public discovering on November 2017.
