Ireland’s 2019 Six Nations campaign resumes this weekend with a visit of France to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Ireland will likely need a bonus-point win against Les Blues this weekend to stay in contention for this year’s Championship and could be boosted by the return of a number of key players.
CJ Stander and Garry Ringrose will likely return to the starting line-up having missed the wins over Scotland and Italy, while there’s also a chance Ireland could welcome back Dan Leavy and Robbie Henshaw.
Henshaw started in the loss to England, albeit at fullback, while Leavy is yet to feature in the Championship as he battles for fitness.
“We’ve got them on a slightly different programme,” said Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt.
“Dan Leavy, again, is on track to train potentially on Tuesday. Hopefully he’ll train Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Robbie is on the same kind of path at the moment.”
“It’s how they pull up after training this morning, they worked pretty hard this morning and we’ll get a better idea post that.”
Elsewhere Johnny Sexton and Sean O’Brien are expected to shake of niggles and be fit in time, while Joey Carbery is still 50/50 as he continues to rehab a hamstring problem that kept him out of the win over Italy.
