Ireland international is available for selection this weekend for Leinster’s PRO14 semi-final clash against Munster after making a miraculous recovery way ahead of schedule.
Van der Flier suffered a groin injury while on Six Nations duty back in March, and was expected to be out until at least the end of the season.
The openside went under the knife, and has made remarkable progress with his rehabilitation, putting him back in the frame for Leinster as they look to bounce back from their disappointing Champions Cup final defeat to Saracens on Saturday.
It’s a massive boost for both Leinster and Ireland, with Dan Leavy sidelined for the foreseeable future after he suffered a complex knee injury against Ulster in the Champions Cup.
