Ireland levelled things up with the Wallabies over the weekend, bouncing back from their loss in Brisbane with a 26-21 win at AMMI Park in Melbourne.

Head coach chose rest a number of his top stars for the opening Test, resulting in a nine-point defeat. But the big guns returned this past weekend – and they made all the difference.

Johnny Sexton was back at ten to control proceedings, while Tadhg Furlong put in one of the great Test performances, bagging a crucial try for his team in the process.

Considering just how well Ireland have been playing this season, breaking records and setting unprecedented standards, their achievements are somewhat forgotten at times in the midst of it all.

Not only did Ireland tie the series this past weekend – they defeated Australia on home soil for the first time in nearly forty years. The last time they won on Aussie soil was 1979. When you think of some of the Irish teams that have gone to Australia over the years and failed, it’s a damn impressive feat.

Can they make it a series victory this weekend? We wouldn’t bet against it.
