Back in business.
Former England, Lions and Harlequins coach Graham Rowntree has been named as the new forwards coach of the Georgian national team.
The 47-year-old will hold the post for a period which includes next year’s World Cup in Japan. Rowntree was a loosehead prop for Leicester and England as a player, earning 54 international caps and playing at two World Cups.
Rowntree spent eight years with England as their forwards coach, before leaving following a poor 2015 Rugby World Cup under Stuart Lancaster. He then spent the next two years at Harlequins before leaving over the summer.
The 47-year-old also coached the Lions in 2013 and 2017, helping them to a series win over Australia as well as a drawn series against the All Blacks.
