Ulster Rugby have confirmed that they have indeed signed another ‘overseas’ outhalf to replace the outgoing Christian Lealifano, who’s set to depart at the end of the month,
The Wallaby was drafted in on a short-term deal to replace Paddy Jackson, but as he continues to deal with problems off the pitch, another playmaker will be need to see out the rest of the season.
Speaking following their heavy defeat to Leinster, Ulster’s Director of Rugby Less Kiss said:
“We have got a new person to replace Christian and we will announce that in due course. It’s an overseas player and all that has been cleared so no problems.”
Rumours are now rampant that former Wallaby Matt Giteau is Ulster’s mystery man, who is set finish up his contract in Japan. with Suntory Sun Goliath next week. Giteau, who is now 35, has also been linked with a move back to his old club Toulon.
Other names linked with Ulster include two other Wallabies in Quade Cooper and Berrick Barnes.
