England head coach Eddie Jones has been dealt a major blow ahead of next month’s Guinness Six Nations with the news that flanker Sam Underhill will miss the entire tournament.
The Bath forward has been forced to undergo surgery on an ankle problem and the 22-year-old looks set to be out of action for a period of up to three months.
Underhill suffered damaged ankle ligament damage during Bath’s victory against Leicester on December 30th. And while it was initially thought the problem wasn’t too serious, scans have forced him to go under the knife.
England kick off their Six Nations campaign against Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on February 2nd.
