Not good enough.
Japan head coach Eddie Jones has hit out at World Rugby following his side’s narrow defeat to Wales on Saturday evening at the Principality.
Wales snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a penalty from Jarrod Evans with the last kick of the game.
But the fixture wasn’t without controversy, with Japan handed three yellow cards, and Wales winger Josh Adams red-carded after his yellow was upgraded following a bunker review.
It continues a worrying trend throughout the Autumn Nations Series so far, with South Africa handed two permanent reds over the last couple of weekends, among multiple other cards and TMO stoppages, and Jones has had enough.
“It is almost farcical now, the sin bin situation,” the Japan head coach said.
“We are absolutely ruining the game of rugby.
“I don’t think any of the actions today were intentional, and I don’t think they deserved to be sin-binned – any of them. Wales or us.
“We have to have a more sensible approach to the game. There is going to be contact with the head unless it’s reckless, which I didn’t see as any of those actions as being reckless.
“Penalties, fair enough. Of course, we have to have penalties.
“At one stage, we were down to 13 men, they got a red card, and they were down to 14 men.
“The game of rugby is about 15 players on the field, and I think World Rugby should be looking at this very closely.
“And if I were a fan, I’d be asking the Welsh Rugby Union for my money back, but they can’t afford it, so they’re not going to give it back.”
Do you agree with the former England head coach?
