New gig.
Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth learned his fate last week following a disciplinary hearing for his red card for eye gouging Wales flanker Alex Mann.
The towering second-row will miss 12 games, reduced down from 18, and has already been deregistered by the Sharks for their European campaign.
But Etzebeth has landed a new role to keep him busy while he serves his suspension, with the South African set to help out with coaching duties at the Sharks.
The development comes in the wake of head coach John Plumtree’s decision to step down as the team’s head coach following their defeat to Toulouse on Sunday.
“He [Etzebeth] will come and do some coaching with our juniors,” Plumtree said before this departure.
“He’ll help out some of our seniors as well.
“He needs to be around. He’ll take a break now, obviously. He’s got a pretty young family, but we’ll get him doing some tasks for us which will help.”
