Worrying times ahead for All Blacks boss Steve Hansen.
Crusaders midfielder Ryan Crotty (ribs) and Highlanders fullback Ben Smith (concussion) succumbed to injuries in the second half of the Crusaders’ injury-time 25-22 win in Christchurch over the weekend.
Crusaders coach Scott Robertson confirmed Crotty would probably miss “a couple of weeks”, but the full extent of his injury wouldn’t be known until Sunday.
After taking a head knock in the second half, fullback Smith clearly didn’t want to leave the pitch for a concussion test, before referee Glen Jackson ensured he did so.
The All Blacks already have a number of injury worries ahead of the series with Jerome Kaino, Kieran Read and Dane Coles all still not fit ahead of the three Test series with Gatland’s Lions.
