It’s Connacht’s turn to snatch some talent from under the noses of a rival province.
Leinster academy full-back Cian Kelleher has reportedly turned down an offer of a development contract with his home province Leinster, and will be joining Connacht on a full contract, according to Brendan Fanning.
Kelleher is a hugely promising talent and it appears Leinster are devastated he decided on the switch west. A Leinster spokesman has also told the Sunday Independent that they aren’t happy with how this move came about:
He had already agreed a development contract with us, and all the protocols were broken here. I’m sure that he’ll do very well with Connacht – and we wish him well – but we’re unhappy at the way this was done.
Regardless, it’s a huge coup for Connacht.
