Heading home.
England international Chris Ashton is set for a dramatic return to the Premiership after just one season with French giants Toulon. The former Saracens star has been a revelation since moving to the Top 14, switching to fullback and breaking the league’s try-scoring record in his first season. His form has many calling for him to be recalled to the England set-up, but he must ply his trade in the Premiership to be available for selection. After much deliberation he has finally made a decision, with RugbyPass reporting he has signed a contract with Sale Sharks. An official announcement will apparently be made next week. And it appears he will continue at fullback for Steve Diamond’s side, who will use him to replace Mike Haley and Will Addison, who recently joined Munster and Ulster respectively.
Sale are already well stocked on the wings with Denny Solomona, Marland Yarde and Byron McGuigan among their options.
A good move for Ashton?
