Racing Metro owner Jack Lorenzetti is interested in bringing New Zealand international Dan Carter to the Stade Olympique-Yves-du-Manoir, according to reports.
The Guardian claims Lorenzetti would consider signing Carter after the 2015 Rugby World Cup, with current fly-half Jonathan Sexton expected to leave the club at the end of the Top 14 season.
“If the coaches agree, Dan Carter may be an opportunity to strengthen the club next season,” Lorenzetti is quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Carter, who will be 33 by the end of the World Cup, could be one of several southern hemisphere stars to move to France next season.
Reports emerged on Monday that Toulon are closing in on a move for All Blacks centre Ma’a Nonu, while the European champions have also been linked with South Africa back-row Willem Alberts and Australia fullback Israel Folau.
Carter has Top 14 experience having signed a six-month deal with Perpignan in June 2008, as part of his sabbatical season from New Zealand rugby. However, a ruptured Achilles meant he barely featured that season.
