Cardiff Blues boss Danny Wilson is set to pull out of his impending move to Premiership giants Wasps and take over as Scotland’s new forwards coach instead.
Wilson, who leaves Cardiff in a blaze of glory after last month’s Challenge Cup win, revealed earlier in the season he would be leaving the Welsh capital to take up a role alongside Dai Young at Wasps.
But WalesOnline are reporting the Scottish Rugby Union has approached Wasps and the Aviva Premiership Club will not stand in Wilson’s way. A compensation package is still to be finalised but that is expected to happen in the coming days before the move is officially announced.
The move could be good news for Ulster fans too. Current Scotland forwards coach Dan McFarland is set to take over as their head coach next season, but an issue over his notice period has been threatening his start date.
The SRU want him to stay until January, but if they secure Wilson – Ulster could get their man in time for the new season.
