The British and Irish Lions have announced Warren Gatland will once again return as their head coach for the 2021 tour of South Africa.
Gatland previously served as head coach on the 2013 tour of Australia where the New Zealander came away with a 2-1 series victory. He returned again in 2017, defeating the All Blacks in Wellington before drawing the series in Auckland.
“I’m incredibly excited.” Gatland said
“South Africa is a great country to tour, with a proud rugby history and tradition – and it’s a tough place to tour.”
Gatland will step down as Wales boss after the World Cup and is expected to take a break from the game before resuming his coaching career with the Lions a year or so out from the tour.
