Wow.
Beauden Barrett could become the highest paid rugby player in history, with an unnamed French club reportedly set to offer him a whopping NZ$3.4m a season to move to Europe after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Sydney’s Daily Telegraph are reporting that a French Top 14 club is prepared to make the All Blacks playmaker the highest paid player in the world and he would earn NZ$10m on a three-year-contract.
Former All Blacks star Dan Carter is currently the world’s highest paid rugby player, picking up NZ$2.83 million this season with Racing 92. But with Barrett aged just 26, a deal for him would dwarf Carter’s contract.
Barrett is believed to be currently earning around $1 million a season, through his contract with NZ Rugby and the Hurricanes.
Will the two-time World Player of the Year be tempted?
