Ben Smith looks set to be the latest All Black casualty.
The fullback, who is widely regarded as the best in the world in his position, has been linked with a number of club in recent months, including Munster, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current Super Rugby season.
It now appears that a move to France is on the cards, with rugby writer Gavin Mortimer stating that a move to Pau is as good as done.
The move would see him link up with fellow former All Blacks Conrad Smith, Colin Slade, Tom Taylor and Jamie Mackintosh.
“I think negotiations have been going on for about two or three months, I think it’s just about the money but he seems to be keen to go.
Pau are very interested to have him and of course Conrad Smith has just signed on for another year so it seems as if that’s going to happen.”
Any move would be seen as another massive blow for Steve Hansen as he prepares his All Blacks for a world title defence in 2019, having already lost Aaron Cruden this week.
