Andy Farrell surprises Stevie with amazing gift following Ireland’s call performance

Legend.

Ahead of Ireland’s Six Nations encounter with Italy last weekend we were treated to an extraordinary rendition of Ireland’s Call that had the whole world talking.

Steve Mulrooney, a young Irish fan from Kilkenny, was given the opportunity to belt out Ireland’s rugby anthem ahead of kick-off, with many hailing it as the best-ever rendition of the song to date.

Stevie went viral last year following his appearance on the Late Late Show, where he said it would be a dream come true to sing the Irish Rugby anthem at the Aviva Stadium one day.

After living out his dream last Sunday, Ireland boss Andy Farrell added a cherry on top by inviting him to one of their training sessions, and presenting him with a jersey signed by the entire Irish Rugby team.

Farrell asked young Stevie if he was nervous on Sunday, to which he replied:

“I’m never nervous when I sing.

“I was a bit nervous of the crowd but once I got singing…yeah it was just a breeze to go through it.”

What an absolute legend. Let’s hope this is not the last time we see him sing Ireland’s Call.
