150 years.
As Irish Rugby embarks on its 150th anniversary season, official kit suppliers Canterbury of New Zealand have unveiled a special edition jersey to commemorate the milestone.
The shirt, which has been produced in a classic style reminiscent of the original 1875 version, will be worn for the first time as Ireland’s women’s team hosts Australia in Belfast this Saturday, September 14.
The men’s team will also wear the jerseys as they face the Wallabies in their own 150th-anniversary match on November 29 in the Autumn Nations Series.
The full release of men’s, women’s, and kid’s jerseys will be on November 29th available in selected Intersport Elverys stores and online ahead of Irish Rugby’s 150th Anniversary Test match against the Wallabies at Aviva Stadium on November 30th. Prices start from £60 / €75.
Throughout the 2024/25 season, the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) will mark the 150th anniversary of Ireland’s inaugural international rugby match, which took place between Ireland and England on February 15, 1875, with a calendar of events to celebrate the game of rugby in Ireland.
The celebrations will then conclude with the British & Irish Lions facing Argentina at Aviva Stadium for the first time on Irish soil on Friday, June 20, 2025.
