On the mend.

Ireland have issued a positive injury update this morning ahead of this weekend’s quarter-final clash with the All Blacks in Paris.

A number of players picked up knocks before and during Saturday’s win against Scotland, but things are looking good ahead of Saturday’s mammoth fixture.

Keith Earls and Robbie Henshaw are making good progress on their respective hamstring injuries, as are wingers Mack Hansen and James Lowe.

James Ryan is a doubt as he will need to see a specialist on his wrist injury.

“James Ryan is seeing a specialist and we’re hoping for better news than originally anticipated,” Ireland team manager Mick Kearney said this morning

“Mack Hansen took a bang to his calf but is improving. Both him and James Lowe are making good strides. Keith Earls and Robbie Henshaw are both in contention as they progress during the week.

“Apart from that, just some usual bumps and bruises after a physical Test match.”

While it’s not ideal to hear that James Ryan will need to see a specialist, Ireland are hopeful he could be fit in time.

“We won’t have a definitive on James until after he sees the specialist but certainly there would be more optimism around James than probably what was originally anticipated,” Kearney said.

“He’s seeing the specialist today so we should know more either later this evening, tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon, or whenever. Certainly, within the next 24 hours we should have a clearer picture of where James is at.”

And as things stand, no changes have been made to the squad.

“No call-ups, no one added to the squad, and at this stage, no one ruled out for the match against New Zealand on Saturday night,” Kearney added.
