Confusion.
There was a bit of confusion following the full-time whistle in the opening match of the Rugby World Cup between France and New Zealand this evening.
Tournament hosts France got off to a perfect start with a huge win over their Pool A counterparts, but there were a few questions asked at the full-time whistle – mainly what as the final score?
France scored a late try to put some gloss on that scoreline with a kick to come from Jaminet, which he missed. But fans at home were told that he got the kick and the final score was 29-13, it wasn’t, it was 27-13.
Twitter then had several different media accounts posting the wrong result because of the broadcasting error, while, the official Rugby World Cup account had it right at 27-13.

A few minutes later, both RTE and ITV apologised for the mistake and we can all now sleep tonight knowing what the correct scoreline was.
In fairness to them – one assistant had his flag up to indicate it was successful, while the other kept his down, saying Jaminet missed.
As French as it gets really…
